Deaf Ministries in Western Africa
Pastor Duke with Compassion Deaf Ministry in Benin, West Africa - CB Deaf Ministry Benin Director
A group of Pastor Duke's students One of the teachers with their class and Pastor Duke, Hearing Pastor to the Deaf in Benin, West Africa with a crippled Deaf child "Beloved in His service,

Our mission is to reach the Deaf in Benin. And to achieve this, we need your sacrificial support. We need individuals/charity organizations who will be willing to support our Deaf ministry. Many among the Deaf depend on the ministry for their survival, and many children of the Deaf need to go to school.

We have begun a free deaf school for the deaf children here in Benin. We have 20 pupils now and a three teachers who are willing to work for a small salary. One of our students is crippled as well. Seven of the pupils live on the premises becaue they live far from the school and their parents cannot afford even the transportation. Please help to provide supplies, salaries, and tools for this work.

We sincerely appeal for your kind gesture to keep the train moving. You can contact us for full details of the ministry and her programs such as our Camp meetings that take place twice every year, even as you prayerfully consider what the Lord would want you do to reach the Deaf in Benin for Christ.

OUR DEAF SCHOOL
Imagine what a Deaf would be without education. Won’t here be a world of loneliness to him?

Having seen that it is absolutely impossible to tell the Deaf about God if he did not attend a school. Compassion Deaf Ministry has a strong urge to establish learning environments for the Deaf children whose parents are not capable of sending to school due to financial difficulties. This is to help the Deaf in general development.

Our next school for the Deaf children commences on September/October 2010

Being aware that evangelism among the Deaf starts from education, Compassion Deaf Ministry has a zeal to establish charity schools to help especially the helpless Deaf. You can be of help to us. We really want to equip our Deaf school with the following:
  • School Desks
  • Chalk Boards (precisely white)
  • Tables and Back-chairs for Teachers
  • Computers
  • Sewing Machines
  • Hair Dressing Materials
  • Carpentry materials
Compassion Deaf Ministry in Benin All these are necessary for the development of the Deaf children. We hope to go beyond teaching them how to read and write, and make them very useful by also teaching them handiworks, such as:
  • Learning how to use computers
  • How to make clothes of all kings
  • Girls can learn hair dressing
  • And boys can learn hair cutting
  • Provision for carpentry work is also to be made
The above training on handiworks will be dependent on individual area of interest.

Please, do not hesitate to contact us if the Lord lays in your heart to support us on any of these.

OUR DEAF ORPHANAGE
Though we've secured the accommodation, yet there are more other things we need. If you see that God is moving you to support us, we will email you list of things we are in need of.

Meanwhile, you can also help us providing things like Beds, Foams, and so on. To ask for a list of things we need, Click Here.

Compassion Deaf Ministry in Benin REMEMBER YOU ARE CONTRIBUTING TO BUILDING THE FIRST DEAF ORPHANAGE IN BENIN REPUBLIC

On behalf of Compassion Deaf Ministry

Evan. Sharon Valentino with Helping Hands in Nigeria in Imo State, Nigeria
Name of Minister: Evan. Sharon Valentino (Hearing)
Number of Deaf Attending: 15-20
Number of Deaf Leaders: 1

How We Evangelize the Deaf:
We go to Deaf Secondary Schools, the market place, Sports events where the Deaf participate, etc.

Description of Ministry:
We currently have 10-20 Deaf adults that are attending our church on a regular basis. We interpret all services and classes that they attend. We help when needed to interpret at doctor visits or in any area that they may need us to interpret for them. We recently have provided reading glasses and medical care for those Deaf members that needed them. We have also donated two generators to the secondary school (one for girls dorm and one for boys dorm) so that the children will be able to see at night to talk or study. We have helped start a sewing skills training center by providing machines and materials to the Deaf Secondary School so that the students can learn a skill.

Projects, Needs, Prayer Requests:
I am starting a class to train interpreters in the next few weeks and we have very limited resources to do that with. We only have a couple of books and we have NO videos or other material. We are depending on God to provide what we need. Please keep us in prayer about this and if anyone is touched to provide some sign language books, flashcards, DVDs or any other materials you can contact me or send to the address provided.

We are a new ministry that is starting in Christian Community Church Nigeri. Our goal is to bring the message of Salvation through Jesus Christ to the Deaf in Nigeria. We sign our services and will interpret any program that the deaf attend. i.e. Youth group, Foundation class, Women's Ministry, Royal Brides. We bring the message to the Deaf Secondary School here on some of their Moral Instruction Days and we are working hard to meet their needs both spiritually and physically (we bring food, first aid items, etc.)There are 500 students at this school and they are sleeping two in a small bed, there is a lack of materials there (motebooks, writing implements, etc.)

Projects, Needs, Prayer Requests:
We are seriously praying for someone to assist us by sending training material: Sign Language books, video tapes, DVDs and CDs to help teach sign language to interpreters. Right now I am the only interpreter that knows how to sign here. I am praying for help so we can train others for the work here.
