From China:
Tie is a very sweet, gentle child. He has an endearing smile, and it is clear, after spending a little time with him, why he is the favorite of one of his caretakers. Tie appears to be delayed in his growth and development; we have no way of knowing what will happen when he has a family and is given the kinds of support services that are not available in China but are very accessible here.
A family who adopts Tie needs to be comfortable with the unknowns that are part of a situation like this, but we SO HOPE that there is a family somewhere who is because we just can’t give up on him. There are medical reports, video and photos of Tie from last summer, as well as a current medical report and updated photos. He has grown and developed in the past year, and we are hoping that he will continue to grow and develop even more once he has a family who loves him.

Male. Severe sensor neural deafness. DOB: 1/15/2007
On Apr 1, 2008, he was picked up in the second floor of the new clinic building of Beijing Children’s Hospital. At that time, he was wearing a red coat with hat and blue jean coogan, and no other things with him. The search for his relatives by the police officers failed to find them.
During Apr 1, 2008 to Apr 17, 2008, he was raised in Yuetan police station of Xicheng Branch of Beijing Public Security Bureau. On Apr 17, 2008, he was sent to this institute to be raised and he is living in this institute to this day. His DOB was decided according to his physical development conditions and the physical exam given by the doctor on admission.
Physical exam results of the child now: extremely severe perceptive nerve deafness. He is a handsome boy with a pair of bright big eyes in his white face. He is extroverted. He would merge with others easily. Although he cannot hear, he can understand the meaning of the caretakers by reading their lip motions. Now the child is receiving language training in the institute. He likes model toy cars and every time he gets toys, he would smile happily. Sometimes he would share toys with other kids.
Although he cannot express his happiness by language, he would experience the pleasure which brought by the toy with other kids. He is a docile baby, and would concede to kids younger than him. The caretakers and kids all like him and willing to be friends with him. He eats an average amount and has a good appetite. He likes eating chicken. He can sleep alone and soundly without bad sleeping habits. He is up to date on the vaccination program.

From United States of America:
FOUND A HOME! Legally free, ROBERT (12/00) is a very affectionate and loving little boy with a contagious smile and a sweet, mellow personality. Among his favorite activities are watching American Sign Language (ASL) videos for preschoolers who are deaf. Building with blocks and Legos and learning how to peddle a tricycle are activities that are encouraging his fine and gross motor skills development.
Robert, who responds well to structure and routine, is much like a three-year old toddler in his overall development. He thrives on one-on-one attention from the significant adults in his life. Robert has a trusting relationship with his foster family, especially his foster mom, and with his respite provider. He enjoys being around other children, although his lack of verbal communication, at least for now, means he may push other kids or take things from them to get their attention. He is learning to sign in his school program at the Washington School for the Deaf, and his ASL vocabulary is growing nicely.
Robert’s deafness and sight impairment are among the residual effects of a rare genetic disorder that has caused him to have multiple medical and developmental special needs. While there is no cure at this time and no standard course of treatment for the disorder, he is currently making some progress in physical therapy. Other medical and treatment professionals monitor his health and his needs on a regular basis.
Robert’s worker is looking for that special family who will claim him as their own from the get go. Of course, his adoptive folk(s) will need to have a lot of time and attention to devote to him, and also be willing to be strong advocates for the various medical, developmental, and educational services that will help to meet his needs. His foster mom believes that he will benefit from having siblings in his adoptive home.
While two parents could certainly be a benefit, Robert’s worker does not want to miss out on hearing from those remarkable single moms and dads who have strong support systems of family, friends, and community resources to help them meet challenges. Having respite for Robert and for his adoptive folk(s) will be an important resource to help the family successfully be there for Robert.

Mitchell DOB: September 15, 2007
This adorable little guy has a fair complexion with big, round, dark eyes. On admission, he was hospitalized and treated for neonatal jaundice and dehydration. It is reported that he makes some expressive noises, and has a good social smile and visual regard. A report from March 2008 indicated he was said to be delayed in all areas. The report mentioned that he looks at objects, but doesn't hold onto them, and has no head control. In June 2008 it was noted that he can now hold up his head while on his stomach. A hearing test in February 2008 showed bilateral hearing impairment on both sides. This little guy's birth mother experienced post partum depression that has not resolved, impairing her ability to live independently. This charming boy is waiting for his forever family who has access to the resources he needs. Keywords: Hearing Impairment

It was also noted that he responds to his name and is able to speak single syllables. It is also noted that he has some hearing loss and may require a hearing aid in the future. He is described as a sweet child who does adorable activities by his foster family. A family open to some unknowns and who has access to the resources he needs would be ideal for this sweet boy. FOUND A HOME!
Yuri is 12 years old, deaf, and would desperately like to be adopted. The orphanage director where he lives has pleaded with us to help him find a family. Yuri was abandoned at birth and was in a baby orphanage before being transferred to the orphanage where he now lives.
He is active, likes to draw and embroider, does his school work diligently, is very inquisitive, neat, and is “held in respect” by the other children. When one of the girls at the orphanage was being adopted recently he cried... The orphanage he is in houses deaf and hard of hearing children and the director is a wonderful women who makes every effort to meet the needs of the children in her care. This adoption is only available to married couples who are not more than 45 years older than the child. We have an in country facilitator who has offered to do this adoption for $4,000 (normally $8500-$10000), with a person in the USA who is offering their time at no charge. Other associated fees are homestudy, airfare, INS fees, travel and daily apartment/food, exit medical for child. I would budget approx. $11,000 for this adoption, there is an $11,000 adoption tax credit if you qualify through the IRS.

Contact Agency for the Child's Location:
We have been notified of a teen that can be applied for, Andrew. He is aging out in January so he must be applied for via INS by December 1st at the latest. He has moderate hard of hearing, but has not been provided hearing aids. He communicates by some speech and some gesturing. He does a good job of getting his point across by showing what he is referring to if people are unable to understand his speech. We are not sure why he is hard of hearing but assume he could use hearing aids.
He was also born with lower arm/hand deformities but he can fully use his arms and hands that he does have. He is an outgoing teen boy whose favorite tasks are art, soccer, gymnastics and board games. Despite his special needs he is physically strong, healthy, and normal intellectually. He enjoys playing board games and new experiences. He is located in a rural small orphanage that receives good care but has done very few adoptions for children ages 8-16 with special needs.
Married couples with one parent up to age 60 may inquire; the other parent may be older if in good health.
